The studio will be closed for the week of August 12. Nobody will be at their desk; one of us will check email once a day for things that genuinely can’t wait, and the rest will be properly off. If you’ve got a live project with us, you’ve already heard from the lead on what’s happening before and after; if you haven’t, no surprises are coming.
For new enquiries that come in during that week, expect a reply in the week of the 19th. If you’re working to a tight deadline, please flag it in your subject line — we’ll catch those first when we’re back.
Outside that week, we run on shorter hours through August. The studio is open from ten to four, Monday through Thursday. Fridays we’re closed to clients but at our desks for studio work — that’s the time we use to write briefs, plan the next quarter, and tidy up the bits of internal scaffolding that never quite get finished during a normal week.
We started doing this three summers ago and it has changed how the rest of the year feels. The shorter hours and the closed week act as a kind of forced rest that none of us would take voluntarily. The work doesn’t suffer for it. If anything, the projects we ship in September are better than the ones we shipped in July, because everyone is actually present for them.
If your project timeline overlaps with the closed week and you’re anxious about it, send us a note and we’ll talk through it. We have not yet had a project genuinely delayed by the August closure, but we plan around it as if every one might be.
