After four years above the bakery, we’re moving one floor up. Same building, same address, same Brook Street, just trading the back two rooms on the second floor for the front three on the third. The bakery stays where it is, which means our coffee situation continues unchanged.
The actual change is mostly about light. The current space looks out on a brick wall and a fire escape; the new space gets the full eastern wall, which means morning sun and a real view of the block. For a studio that does a lot of photographing and a lot of reading printed proofs, that turns out to matter more than the square footage. We’ve been working under desk lamps for most of the year, which is fine in November but starts to feel wrong by April.
The move is happening over a weekend in late September. The studio will be closed Friday afternoon through Monday morning. Email will be checked once a day; nothing should slip through, but if you’ve sent us something time-sensitive and haven’t heard back by Tuesday, please follow up.
Our phone number, mailing address, and Stripe details are all unchanged. The only thing that changes is which door you knock on if you come to visit, and we’ll send a note with a photo to anyone with an active project so you know what to look for. The buzzer system in this building is mildly confusing.
For anyone planning to drop by after September: the entrance is still on Brook Street, but you take the stairs up one more flight. The bakery has agreed not to put a sign at the second floor saying “no, keep going” but we’re not promising they won’t.
